5 things Irish tradespeople's websites get wrong

We've reviewed hundreds of trade websites in Ireland. The same mistakes come up time and time again.

Trade websites in Ireland fall into a pattern. Whether you're a plumber in Wexford, an electrician in Dublin, or a builder in Cork, we see the same five issues over and over. Fix even two of them and you'll see more enquiries within weeks.

1. The phone number is hidden

Tradespeople win or lose jobs on the phone. Yet most trade sites bury the number in tiny text in the footer. It should be in the header, sticky on mobile, and clickable. If a customer has to scroll or pinch-zoom to call you, they'll call someone else.

2. No real photos of real work

Generic stock photos of someone in a hard hat fool nobody. Customers want to see your van, your team, your finished kitchens, your boilers, your before-and-afters. Real photos build trust faster than any line of copy ever will.

3. Vague service descriptions

"We do all kinds of plumbing work" is a non-answer. Customers searching Google use specific terms: boiler installation, immersion repair, bathroom refit. Your site needs those words on the page or you'll never appear when people search them.

4. No service area

If your site doesn't say where you work, Google doesn't know either. List your county, towns you cover, and how far you travel. This is one of the single biggest local SEO wins for tradespeople.

5. No reviews on the page

Google reviews live on Google. That's fine, but pull two or three of your best ones onto your homepage. A new visitor shouldn't have to leave your site to find out you're any good.

What good looks like

A great trade website is five pages, loads instantly, shows real photos, lists every service by name, and makes the phone number unmissable. That's the whole formula. Anything fancier is a distraction.
